Woodlawn Music Tech Student Ayanna Jacobs-El Receives Prestigious Berklee College of Music President


Woodlawn Music Tech student Ayanna Jacobs-El was the proud receipient of one of the Berklee College of Music prestigious Presidential Scholarships. To be eligible, Ayanna had to be a present or former student of one of Berklee's City Music Network member sites. While a student a the Alabama School of Fine Arts, Ayanna participated in the 2nd Woodlawn Music Tech Summer Camp in 2012. This was the 1st Summer that the program was a member of the Berklee City Music Network.

Ayanna was one of only thirteen students from among the hundreds of students from member sites participating in Berklee’s Five-Week Summer program to receive the full scholarship. Valued at $150,000, the Presidential Scholarship provides full tuition and board to attend the Berklee College of Music. Ayanna is presently a freshman at Berklee.

T​he Berklee City Music Network is a consortium of community organizations with a similar mission for contemporary music training. Network sites have access to the Berklee PULSE Music Method online music education platform, expert faculty, individualized mentoring, and the opportunity to apply to attend Berklee College of Music on a full tuition scholarship. As a part of the Woodlawn Music Tech program students have access to all Berklee City Music Network benefits.

The Woodlawn Music Tech Lab, including the summer camp, is presented by Audiostate 55 Recording Studios in association with the Woodlawn Foundation.
